Darius’ Decree: About

What is Darius’ Decree?

Darius’ Decree is a custom web search for finding information about the Bible, theology, and Christian life. There are a group of sites that I have found very reliable for providing good, solid information. Darius’ Decree allows me (and you!) to search those sites easily. Want to find information on Parables? The Second Temple? The popular book The Shack? Find it easily, without the chaff that accompanies searching the entire internet.

How do I get to the search?

There are several ways to get there:

  1. There is a search box on the right-hand side of every page of Kubecki.com.
  2. You can get there via www.kubecki.com/darius/.

Where does the name come from?

Ezra 6:1

6:1 Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in Babylonia, in the house of the archives where the documents were stored. (ESV)

What’s the right way to pronounce “Darius”?

It’s not “DAR-ee-us” or “DARE-ee us.” It’s properly pronounced “da-RYE-us.” See here. Or listen here, here, or here. Or listen to Max McLean read Ezra 6:1 (click “Listen”).

Is every site that is included trustworthy?

Anything not coming directly from Scripture should always be read with discernment. I would not agree with or endorse everything on all of these sites, but in general, I have found that these sites are generally reliable in that they approach Scripture carefully with a genuine desire to discern God’s truth.

What sites are included in Darius’ Decree?

Please refer to the sites page for a complete listing of the sites currently included in the search.

I have an idea for a site I think you should add. Do you take suggestions?

Absolutely! Just use the contact form to let me know. Be sure to include the URL of the site, as well as why you think it should be added.

Why are there ads?

There are ads because Google Custom Search Engines requires them, unfortunately. They do allow you to remove them for “registered non-profits.” However, I’m not a registered non-profit. And at some point, I may want to add ads to the site, so I’m keeping my options open for right now. Hopefully, the ads aren’t too distracting.
