I’ve made some changes to the site recently, and tonight I did a bunch. So here we are, in no particular order…

No more Google Reader links or Del.icio.us links – I got bored with having these in the sidebar.

I fixed the search results page on the new theme, so when you search, you no longer just see title, you actually see the text that your search hit on. Here’s an example.

I updated some of the software that runs the site (WordPress plugins for you techie types) so that it runs faster. (Again, for techie types – changed some of the plugins that built dynamic scripts, CSS, etc. based on configured options, to static pages. I don’t change the configuration enough to pay the performance hit.)

I now have a “Now Reading” section in the sidebar, if you’re curious what I’m reading. Most of the time it is guaranteed to be out of date…

Have a great weekend…

Yep, I’ve been slacking off on posting for a while. I will get back into the swing of things, I promise!

In the meantime, some site news:

New look. What do you think?

The site is now iPhone and mobile friendly. Thanks to Jerry for testing the iPhone version. (You don’t need a special link, just visit www.kubecki.com from your mobile browser.)

I’ve added, per request, email subscriptions. See the sidebar on the right.

I’ll be updating the blogroll soon.

I’ve got a cool search engine in the works for searching many of the sites in the blogroll, as well as other sites I’ve found useful. More news to come on that one.

Several folks have asked how Shannon is doing with the pregnancy. She is doing very well, and we appreciate everyone’s prayers. She has some back pain, so pray specifically for comfort, as well as continued good health for both her and the baby. We’re now into the 2nd trimester, so praise God for his blessings!

Yep, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything of any substance. I’m fully aware. It’s been a busy time of year, with homeschooling starting up and small groups for church starting up again.

I do have a few things in the works, though:

I’m about to finish up a book study with a friend – Disciplines of a Godly Man, by R. Kent Hughes. As soon as I’m done with that, I’ll be posting a review.

As I said, small groups have started up again for our church. This year, the small group I’m in is studying Hebrews, and this year, I have the honor of taking the lead in the teaching. I plan to blog through much if not all of this book, but I’d better get started soon before I get too far behind the schedule…

Right now, I’m in the middle of about 5 books, a bad habit of mine. I’m hoping to finish up some of those and get reviews posted soon.

I also, of course, want to post more on things I see in the news. And sometimes, just to post on silly stuff, like the fact that I finally got around to making one of these.

There comes a time in everyone’s life when they realize, “Hey, I’ve really made a colossal mess of my bookmarks!”

That time came for me recently. Specifically, with regard to my del.icio.us links. If you don’t know what del.icio.us is, well, it’s a “social bookmarking” tool that lets you basically store favorites on the web. Click the link there to learn more.

Anyway, my del.icio.us links got to be quite a mess. For starters, I never used tags when I started using the service. Plus, I had a lot of stuff that I would bookmark hoping to get back to later, but never ever did. So… I decided to “reboot” my del.icio.us. Actually, what I did was export everything, wipe it all out, and add back in the wheat only, leaving the chaff behind. (Well, at least in my opinion.)

One other result of this is that I’ve now added My del.icio.us Links to the sidebar on the right. You can see my 5 most recent bookmarked items, or click the title (“My del.icio.us Links”) to view all my links. In case you’re interested in what I have found interesting on the web…

And speaking of reading I find interesting, the other addition to the right sidebar is my Google Reader Shared Items. These are basically blog posts that I’ve read recently that I find interesting. (And you can see all my shared items by clicking the More link at the bottom of the list.)

The bottom line is that whenever you visit my site, even if I haven’t posted anything, there’s probably still something new to read! Enjoy…
