I’ve been working on a lengthy review of The Almost Christian Discovered (and I’ve started the next book, The Bruised Reed), but in the meantime, here are some interesting items I’ve been reading in the blogosphere…

  • Southern Baptist seminary president Albert Mohler is debating Mormon science fiction author Orson Scott Card about whether Mormons are Christians as defined by traditional Christian orthodoxy.
  • James White sums up the differences between synergism and monergism, a/k/a Arminianism and Calvinism.
  • In this week’s “dose of Spurgeon,” the prince of preachers takes on the idea of compromise with the world in evangelism: “Many try compromise; but if you are a true Christian, you can never do this business well. The language of deceit fits not a holy tongue.”
  • Elsewhere, Phil Johnson reminds us of God’s faithfulness through the example of Elijah and The Drying Brook
  • Peter Mead offers some good advice for reading/studying/preaching through genealogies
  • Russell Moore brings an interesting theological perspective to the debate on global warming
  • And finally, Steve Weaver is posting notes from a “VBS for Adults” he’s teaching. The first set of notes, on What Christians Believe, is already online.
